ADVERTISEMENT FOR APPLICATION TO MASTER OF BIOETHICS AT MUHIMBILI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH AND ALLIED SCIENCE, 2018

The Department of Bioethics and Health Professionalism (DBE), under the School of Public Health at MUHAS, aims to be a National, Regional and International Centre for excellence in the teaching, research and consultancy services in Bioethics. Through teaching, research and consultancy, the department collaborate with faculty from other Departments, Schools, Institutes and adjunct/visiting faculty to teach bioethics courses including Master of Bioethics (MBE), Bioethics for Postgraduates (EE 600) and Health Professionalism (PF 100 -300) program. 
The Department is responsible for the administration and coordination of all academic activities in Bioethics at the University level.

Through funding from Forgarty International, Dartmouth-MUHAS Research Ethics Training Program (DMRET) supports the DBE by providing partial scholarships to excelling candidates for Two Years to undertake the Masters of Bioethics.

The Program is hereby advertising for prospective students who wish to undertake the Masters of Bioethics Program for 2 years. 

FUNDING: 
Full Tuition Fees will be paid for successful candidates 
A modest stipend MIGHT be provided depending on the donor funds received 

ELIGIBILITY: 
(i) Graduates in health related fields from any recognized university with at least GPA of 2.7. 
(ii) Mid-career applicants e.g. lawyers, administrators, social workers, veterinarians, researchers, industrialists, regulators and other professionals engaged in health associated fields with at least GPA of 2.7 at undergraduate level. 
Lawyers are highly encouraged to apply

APPLICATION PROCEDURES 
Application is done through the usual MUHAS procedures for applying for postgraduate programs as below. 

All applications shall be processed and submitted online through a portal accessible on MUHAS website (https://www.muhas.ac.tz/). Applications submitted in hard copies shall not be processed.

APPLICATION FEE 
Application fee is Tshs 100,000/= for Tanzanian applicants and US$ 50 for foreign applicants paid to the University. This can be paid via Mobile Money (for local applicants, as per instructions on the application portal) or directly to MUHAS NBC Bank Account (for foreign applicants).

Applicants shall be required to upload and submit scanned copies of the following documents;
1. An up-to-date detailed curriculum vitae. 
2. Copies of ordinary level secondary education, advanced level secondary education and undergraduate certificates and academic transcripts. 
3. Internship certificate where relevant. 
4. Birth certificate. 

5. A letter from the employer showing readiness to release you for studies. 
6. For foreign applicants; receipt of payment of application fee. Successful applicants shall be required to submit original copies of certificates and transcripts for verification at the time of admission.

1.  Call for Application

The General Public is hereby informed that the Kingdom of Morocco through the Moroccan Agency of International Cooperation (AMCI), has granted the United Republic of Tanzania a quota of 30 scholarships tenable at Moroccan Public Institutions at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels for the academic year 2018/2019.

Application are invited from qualified Tanzanians for Undergraduate and Postgraduate programme to apply. .Language of instructions for most courses (science, technology, economics etc.) will be French.

2.  GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

(i)   UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES BACHELOR DEGREE

1.      Applicant must have been completed in 2017/2018 and passed Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSE), with Division I or II / Diploma with minimum of Upper Second ;

2.      Age not older than 23 years by August 2018;

3.      Not admitted in any higher learning institution in the country;

4.      Have good health.

(ii)             POSTGRADUATE

(a)  Masters:

(i)                Must be holders of a first degree with a minimum of Upper Second class;

(ii)             Not admitted in any higher learning institution;

(iii)           Have good health.

PhD

(i)                Must be holders of Master’s degree in the required subject/specialities of studies recognized as being equivalent to Moroccan granted certificate;

(ii)             Not admitted in any higher learning institution;

(iii)           Have good health.

N.B:

•      Applicants with a certificate or a course in French language will be an added advantage

•      In all programmes language of instruction is French except for Islamic and Arabic Literature which will be conducted in Arabic Language;

(f)   Applicant for Masters and PhD must provide a copy of an Abstract of dissertation/thesis of graduation/thesis for PhD degree

3       THE SCHOLARSHIP WILL COVER

(a)             (i) Monthly allowance of 750 Dirhams (Approximate to U.S. $ 75);

(ii)  Tuition fees;

(b) Other costs will be covered by the Applicant (Student).

(ii) Registration fees;

(iii)             Air ticket, go and return.

Medical coverage:

Foreign students are required to subscribe to an insurance policy during their study stay in Morocco that offers them the following services:

•      Reimbursement of medical expenses;

•      Medical care;

•      Final medical evacuation to home country in cases of serious illness that will not allow students to continue with their studies in Morocco;

•      Repatriation of body in case of death on Moroccan territory;

SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT (6 Scholarships) 

MWALIMU JULIUS NYERERE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund announces Scholarships for the 2018/19 academic year. 

The Fund grants Scholarships to best female Tanzanian students to pursue Undergraduate studies in Mathematics and Science in Tanzania’s accredited universities. It is also partly used to sponsor both male and female Tanzanians top students to pursue undergraduate studies in Economics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance as well as best students intending to pursue Master’s programmes in those fields.

The primary objective of the Fund is to promote interest and excellence in Mathematics and Science courses among female students in the United Republic of Tanzania.

The Scholarships are granted on academic merit and based on a rigorous selection process. Successful applicants are granted full scholarship which covers all university direct cost (tuition fees etc.) and student direct costs (meal, accommodation, book and stationery allowance, field practical training, special faculty requirement etc.) as specified in the respective institutions ‘costs structure including a laptop computer.

The scholarships are awarded as follows:

1. Undergraduate Degree Programmes (4 Scholarships) 
The Undergraduate Scholarships are granted to top performers at the level of the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (ACSEE) to pursue Undergraduate degree programmes in two categories: 

Category A: Science and Mathematics Studies (Female Students only)

Category B: Information Technology, Economics, Accounting and Finance Studies (Male and Female Students)

The Fund will obtain the list of the 2018 ACSEE top ten (10) students from the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) and the said Scholarship will be granted to qualified candidates.

2. Master’s Degree Programmes (2 Scholarships) 
The Scholarships are open to both female and male best students who are to enrol in Master’s degree programmes in the fields of Mathematics, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance.

Requirements: 
a) Applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen. 
b) Applicant must have obtained First Class or an Upper Second Class (honours) in the Bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 4.0 from an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania. 
c) Applicant must not be more than thirty-five years of age and should have completed Bachelor’s degree in studies related to Mathematics, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting or Finance. 
d) Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full time Master’s degree programme in an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania. The programme should commence in 2018/2019 academic year in any of the following fields: Mathematics, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting or Finance.

UDSM: Scholarship Opportunities for MSc in Oil and Gas Technology

The project focuses on capacity building for oil and gas technology at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. Courses for MSc in Oil and Gas Technology are offered jointly by UDSM members of staff and with visiting professors from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
